How the engagement runs

Every engagement follows the same five stages. The names never change; the depth of each stage scales to the site.

  1. 01Audit. We start with the full Six-Gate teardown — crawl, indexation, rendering, experience, structure, meaning — because retained work without a baseline is guesswork with a monthly invoice. If you’ve already bought the audit as a one-time engagement, this stage is done and the findings carry straight over.

  2. 02Scope. Findings become a written, fixed scope. We sequence fixes by traffic impact against implementation effort and match the plan to your release cadence, not an idealized one. What we won’t do is also in writing — a scope that only lists inclusions isn’t a scope.
  3. 03Implement. Fixes ship as ticket-ready specs your developers can execute, or we implement them ourselves through the web-development arm. Either way the spec exists first: current behavior, required behavior, affected templates, acceptance check. Nothing gets “handled” verbally.
  4. 04Verify. A fix isn’t done when it’s deployed. It’s done when Search Console shows the coverage change, the field data moves, and the crawl confirms the new behavior — on production, not staging. We close findings against evidence, and findings that don’t verify get reopened, not archived.
  5. 05Retain. The site keeps shipping, so the discipline keeps running. This stage has its own machinery, and it’s the reason retained clients stay retained.

Drift Watch — what Retain actually contains

Drift Watch is our standing cadence for catching regressions before Google prices them in. Releases get a pre-deploy pass on the surfaces that break silently: robots directives, canonical output, noindex flags, and a rendering diff on every changed template. Between releases, the watch runs on deltas — index coverage against baseline, CWV field p75 per template, crawl-stat anomalies, structured-data validity on anything the CMS touched. Log sampling continues on sites large enough for crawl budget to be a real constraint rather than a talking point.

The distinction that matters: monitoring tools alert on symptoms. Drift Watch attributes cause. When INP degrades, the finding names the script and the release that introduced it. When indexed pages jump by four thousand, the finding names the template minting them. Alerts without attribution just generate meetings.

Technical SEO services are the ongoing management of a site’s search infrastructure — crawlability, rendering, indexation, performance, and structured data — as opposed to its content. The distinction from a one-time audit is continuity: the service exists because sites regress with every release, and catching regressions early is cheaper than diagnosing traffic drops late. Ours runs as eight standing workstreams under a five-stage engagement, with fixes verified in Search Console and field data before they’re closed.

How do I choose the right technical SEO agency?

Ask who you’ll actually talk to, and ask to see one finding from a real engagement. The finding tells you whether you’re buying diagnosis or tool exports — it should carry evidence, affected URLs, and a spec a developer could ship. The access question tells you whether the people selling the work are the people doing it. Then ask how they verify fixes: “we deployed it” and “Search Console confirmed it” are different answers, and only one of them is the job.
